Chapter Two
Welcome back, Greg and Faye have finally had their building permit reissued
after lots and lots of issues will go through as time progresses. Thank
you for returning to our story.
Let’s get on with it….
The winter Greg and Faye moved in, December 1987 was an exceptionally
warm during the month and into January. They mowed the yard very short,
had not been mowed it seemed in years. They also cut down 132 trees from
the yard, ranging in size from 1 inch to 6 inches in diameter. They filled
holes in the walls both inside and outside. They removed black rot-iron
finishing’s throughout the entire house and orange-flocked wallpaper
from the walls. They also caulked windows and painted the trim. As I said
the weather was co-operating in everyway.
After living in the home for a couple of years Greg and Faye decided
to start designing the home they wanted to live-in the rest of their lives.
Again let’s revisit a brief history of Greg and Faye. They grew
up around the water, boating and camping most of their lives. They race
a 28’ sailing sloop and still own as 38 foot Cutter Rigged Sailboat
up at Lewis and Clark Lake by Yankton SD. This lake was truly the place
they wanted to make their permanent home. They felt that this would be
a perfect place to build the type of home they wanted.
Returning…..
Greg and Faye completely designed the home they are building. Over the
past 14 or 15 years they revised and adjusted the plans looking for the
perfect fit for everything they wanted. It must be very nautical and old
looking. During this design I need to mention that Greg and Faye each
started their own business in 1991 and have worked hard to be able to
full-fill their dreams of building their home. During this time Greg made
an honest…. mistake…. great effort. He tried to remodel the
home himself. Have we all tried this before??
